Protecting the Label, Preserving the Moment — The Story Behind VINOPIE’s Wine Label Film
Share
Hello from VINOPIE,
Recently, we’ve started documenting the stories behind our products — how they came to life, and why they were made.
At VINOPIE, every product begins with a simple question:
“How can we make wine moments more delightful for wine lovers?”
From our earliest designs to every added option, your feedback has guided us like a compass.
And now, we’d like to share this journey with you — not just keep it to ourselves.
1. Where It All Began — The Wine Label Film
Our very first product was the VINOPIE Wine Label Film.
It all started from our own experience of collecting wine for the first time.
We bought a compact LG wine cellar — 8 bottles at first — thinking we'd drink them soon.
But before we knew it, the collection grew. Eventually, we removed the internal racks and stacked up to 11 bottles — Tetris style.
That’s when we ran into an unexpected issue: wine labels getting scuffed and torn from bottle-to-bottle contact.
Just like phones have protective films, we thought:
"Why not create a film to protect wine labels, too?"
That simple idea sparked the beginning of our brand.
2. The First Challenge — Sizing
Wine bottles come in all shapes and sizes.
We quickly realized that one-size-fits-all wouldn’t work.
So, we grouped bottles by similar shapes and designed the label films accordingly.
We started with two types: Burgundy and Bordeaux.
Later, due to customer demand, we added a Champagne version.
Today, we offer three carefully designed sizes to cover the most common bottle types.
3. Finding the Right Feel — Thickness & Material
For our first production, we used OPP film, a common material known for its clarity and cost-efficiency.
But some customers told us they wished it felt more sturdy — something with weight and substance.
After testing various materials, we introduced PET film, which offers a firmer, more premium feel.
Now, we offer two options:
- Standard Film (OPP) for light, flexible protection
- Premium Film (PET) for a thicker, more tactile experience
4. The Invisible Detail — Adhesive Design
When you hold a bottle with label film, you’re holding the film — not the glass.
So attachment strength matters.
In the beginning, we tested single-sided adhesives, but they sometimes slipped during handling.
We switched to double-sided attachment points, ensuring the film stays secure while remaining easy to remove.
We also fine-tuned the adhesive strength:
- Too strong = sticky residue
- Too weak = peeling edges
After many trials, we found the perfect balance — applying different adhesives for Standard and Premium films.
A Small Gesture for Wine Lovers
Wine is more than just what’s in the glass.
It’s about the joy of discovering, collecting, and preserving a bottle — the whole experience matters.
At VINOPIE, we understand that deeply.
And that’s why we’ll continue to design elegant, practical tools that quietly protect what you love.
For every label you treasure,
VINOPIE will be there — quietly preserving the moment.
Thank you.
